Incandescent vs. LED bulbs
With new technology comes new considerations. Incandescent and LEDs are two popular ways to light up the holidays, but which is the better light? There are several factors to consider when determining which is the best light for you.

Brightness
LED lights burn brighter than incandescent as a general rule of thumb, but some factors can make LED’s seem less bright. The biggest factor is the count of diodes within each bulb, as well as the size of the diode. LED bulb shape and size also makes a difference, with small conical shaped wide angle lights appearing so bright they can be hard to look at straight on, while longer, wider C9 bulbs may appear to cast less light.

Cost and Energy
LED lights have a larger upfront cost, but the life of the bulbs and the savings in energy consumption are well worth the investment. Energy Star LED lights are tested to prove that the savings in energy outweighs the immediate costs within an acceptable length of time.

Construction and Durability
LED and incandescent lights are both available in a huge selection of colors and bulb sizes. Incandescent bulbs are glass, and use heat to light the filament. LED bulbs do not require the use of heat, so they remain cool to the touch. LED bulbs are encased in b plastic, making them almost impossible to break. Prelamped LED lights do not have removable bulbs, so the seal is the most secure, giving better protection through the many rain and snow storms.

Some people are adamant that they will always love their traditional Christmas lights. What is your take?
