Many Christmas lighting enthusiasts at Tacky Light Tour list a website as part of their profile. These websites provide information, show pictures and play videos of the Christmas lights. Some enthusiasts are leveraging the services of Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr to create a website rather than developing something from scratch.
What is the best way for a Christmas lighting enthusiast to start a new website?
Are services like Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr viable alternatives?
What are the pros and cons?
Best bet unless your a webmaster, start with something easy. Facebook & MySpace are two great beginner options.
Facebook is great for finding others 'like' you.
I believe that facebook is the best and first option for people.
I think the next step would be a basic site like tumblr.
As users get more comfortable then setup a major website.
Thing like twitter is basically best for major sites, as you have to constantly update.
Just my opinion.
I started a web site using Yola. Pretty easy to set up. I am not that good with computers. So i figure if i could figure it out anyone can. LOL
you will have to let us know the address so we can check it out.
The site worked.
We all start out small and humble, from our display to our website. That way we always have something to aim for. After all, if we did it perfect with 3 million LED lights using 500 channels of DMX we would have nothing to work toward.
I don't know if it really matters what site you use, they all add something, but subtract something else. I have a pay site, and am reworking it from the ground up for this season.
My site is through GoDaddy. I think they do offer some kind of setup, but I honestly don't know anything about that.
GoDaddy? Danika Patrick? LOL I will try it. I would love to have a professional looking site.
By the way your site looks great Kent.
Which of my sites did you find? I didn't think my main site was up again yet. I have a tumblr site that I have been using in the mean time. It is nice that I can update it from my Droid.
OH wow, I forgot I had been on that site. I guess I need to go update that site as well.
Thanks for the kind words. I guess I need to go search where all I put stuff at. :D
