I just had to share with you all what I found at a garage sale today.

A family was selling unopened boxes of net lights from several years ago. 8 boxes of multi color for 12.50 a piece.

That's right charging more than they cost new, for something that (multi color) no one wants.

Crazy.

Yeah, last year I found a moving sale, and picked up all their Christmas Decorations as one lot. They got less than they wanted, but the also got rid of it all at once. I have several totes of garland that I will be selling soon. :D

depending on your lengths from controller to lights, you might look at zip cord also known as spt wire. I have 2500 ft of it.

Great for long runs, odd length runs.

my honey uses spt wire as well.. but he only likes the plugs from lowes.. says they are tighter & a bit more water proof than the others

oh and btw.. he tapes every single connection with electrical tape .. takes time but does keep the water out.. we have never had a short even with 4 feet of snow on top of the wires

That is a good idea. Last yr i put sandwich bags over every connection. I think i will try electrical tape this yr.

between Halloween & Christmas we usually go through 3 of the bulk packs of tape.. even though it works.. it is what makes me grumble during tear down.. the criss cross tape.. around and around... I put a plastic shopping bag on my belt.. and grumble.. wish there was a way to recycle this stuff.. or find another use for it

Where is the cheapest place to buy this Spt wire? It sounds like you set up your display then cut as much wire as you need per channel? You know i write everything down in a note pad so i don't have to go back a search for all the answers. I think after this yr i will need another note pad. There is allot that you have to do to set up a show. When i first bought the controller i thought it would be easy to sequence, and set up the display and watch the show. Nope there is sooooooooooooooooooooo much to it. I am not saying this in a bad way because i am having alot of fun doing it. It is a huge learning experience. But when everything is said and done and it is time to set up i bet i will be sitting back watching my show and say this was all worth it.

I didn't think about that. I think i my stick to the sandwich bags. There i only have to take the tape of on 2 ends not criss cross and around and around plus i will not use as much tape.

yeah the zip ties & tape make me cranky ... think we filled two or three shopping bags with just that last tear down.. it works and he doesn't mind doing it.. so I leave it be

Allison, your idea for placing electrical tape on the Christmas light connections is a great tip! Please consider posting an "How to Create Water Repellent Connections" article in one or both of these forum topics. This would be very helpful and easy tip for all the other enthusiasts.

I finally did find the super garage sale today. An older couple had a lot of stuff for sale... and LOTS of Christmas stuff marked free. :D
So I have a nice sized box full of various lights that I need to check and test. About 20 strings for free. That never happens to me.
