With the holiday season upon us, you will want to experience the Bankers Hill/Balboa Park area celebration with brightly lit homes and businesses celebrating this festive time of year. 3 of the Must See locations include the Prado in Balboa Park (6th & Laurel), Bertrand at Mr. A¢s (5th & Laurel) and The Forward House (1st & Ivy).
The Forward House(pictured) got its moniker after John Forward Sr., Mayor of San Diego , had this house designed and built for him in 1905. In 1998, John Olbrich found, bought and restored the dilapated mansion and began to decorate for the season.
Every year since, it comes alive with an extensive lighting display with holiday music. ( Just think 'Griswalds' from the movie Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase).
